The Bonita Springs Chamber is pleased to congratulate the accomplished students, Gianni Hinkson and Kristen Duguay who were awarded the “Ralph A. Richardson Fund.” Each year we team up with The Community Foundation of Southwest Florida to recognize individuals who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and community service.
Gianni is a graduating senior of Estero High School with plans to plans to major in Biology or Pre-Med at Florida Gulf Coast University with a focus in dermatology and surgery in the fall. After graduating from FGCU, he plans to enroll in the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. He hopes to use his medical training to help people who have been hurt or affected by natural disasters. Gianni has won numerous awards while in high school including, Academic Achievement U.S. Government Honors and Senior Elite as well as Tennis MVP and Florida’s Talented 20 Candidate.
“The generosity of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce will ease the financial burden of my undergraduate studies”, Gianni said, “I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your support and promise to continue my involvement in our community.”
Kristen is graduating from South Fort Myers High with plans to major in Marine Science. As a “well rounded” student in high school, Kristen has excelled as both a student and an athlete, playing at the varsity level for volleyball, basketball and softball. While making good grades is not easy and she admits to spending many late nights studying for her exams. After college, she wants to continue to explore oceanic life and educate people on the effects they have on the marine environment.
“I plan on getting a minimum of a Master’s degree in Marine Science,” said Kristen, “this scholarship money will go a long way to give me more time to focus on my studies.”
