Retaining Our Local Workforce

I’d like to tell you a little about a program we’ve recently launched to support regional workforce retention efforts. The Relocating Partner Assistance Program will support employers that are having difficulty assisting their newly relocated employees’ partners with job placement in the Lee and Collier County area.

The scenario is all too familiar. A husband and wife team move to Southwest Florida because one of them has accepted a new job. They fall in love with our beautiful beaches and all of the local events and activities Southwest Florida offers, but the missing piece is their spouse is unable to find a job locally. Our Relocating Partner Assistance Program is designed to assist folks in that exact situation.

This grassroots effort is utilizing the heads of area businesses and their human resource departments to review and share the resumes of newly relocated individuals who are part of a job placement package.  We’re creating a portfolio of willing advocates who are focused on settling the families of relocating employees, which in turn will support overall workforce retention.

This program will help alleviate some of the stress that families face when relocating and will provide additional support to employers, resulting in new hire stickiness. Low employee retention directly equates to high employer turnover costs, which accumulate to hundreds of thousands of dollars each year.  With this program we are working to help to reduce this expense, creating a win-win situation for everyone involved.

Great to hear the spouse/significant other can find additional support with all the new move-ins lately. I’ll be sending folks your way who could utilize such a resource.
