BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. April 5, 2011 –We recently celebrated our very own volunteer, Barbra Purcell, as the 2011 RSVP Outstanding Volunteer Award winner.
The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RAVP) is the only program in Lee County, whose focus is on recruiting & referring RSVP volunteers where they are needed, and recognizing them for the service they provide. Barbra Purcell has been a volunteer at the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce for three years. With 20 volunteers, Barbra willing stepped up and helped fill in the Volunteer Coordinator position. She took over the duties of scheduling the volunteers, managing new volunteer training/introductions, recruiting new volunteers and managing the visitor’s center. She makes sure all the volunteers are happy, fills in for those that are out of town and continuously improves on the information that is distributed in the visitor’s center.
“Barbara is always positive and unwaveringly patient with everyone she greets. Her knowledge of Southwest Florida is broad and when necessary, Barbara goes the extra mile to find the answer if she doesn’t know. Barbara epitomizes the welcoming attitude that we are known for here,” stated Christine Ross, President &CEO, Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce.
