Give A Meal program raises more than $90,000 for the Harry Chapin Food Bank

The Harry Chapin Food Bank is happy to report that the Bank of America Give A Meal program has brought in $91,521 for the food bank to help feed our neighbors in need.

For the seventh consecutive year, Bank of America partnered with Feeding America and its nationwide network of food banks, including the Harry Chapin Food Bank, in the Give A Meal program to fight hunger across the country and in Southwest Florida.

“Hunger is a critical issue in Southwest Florida that needs a comprehensive approach to truly make a difference,” said Gerri Moll, Southwest Florida market president for Bank of America. “We are proud to lend our support to the Harry Chapin Food Bank, and other organizations in Feeding America’s network, and look forward to another successful Give a Meal campaign in 2019.”

During the holiday campaign, which ran through Dec. 31, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation gave $2 for every $1 donated, up to $1.5 million in donations nationwide for Feeding America programs, and up to $50,000 to any individual local food bank. People could also donate directly to their local food bank by going to the Bank of America website and typing in the ZIP code.

“Partners like Bank of America are vital in our mission to lead our community in the fight to end hunger,” said Richard LeBer, food bank president and CEO. “In Southwest Florida, 154,740 people are food insecure, which means they may not know where their next meal is coming from. Bank of America’s continued support for the food bank helps keep our clients from having to make the hard choice between feeding their families or paying essential bills like rent, utilities or medical care.”

Bank of America supports hunger relief as part of its broader commitment to help advance long-term community sustainability and economic mobility for individuals and families.
