I’m sure you’ve heard about the breadth of powerful initiatives that our Bonita Springs Area Young Professionals are undertaking. Between their inaugural “In Your Future” Summit on September 11th, their monthly networking events, professional development speaker luncheons, and their plans to build a mentorship program for upcoming college graduates.  They are passionate, focused and motivated to make a difference in Southwest Florida.

I did want to bring extra attention to their new Professional Development Grant Program. This is a timely matter because applications to be considered for a grant are due on August 15, 2015. The application is available at by clicking on About the Chamber followed by Young Professionals.

Grants will be awarded annually and applicants are eligible to receive up to $500 to apply toward joining an association, attending a conference, or participating in a workshop, program or seminar. Candidates must demonstrate exceptional community involvement, be employed by a not-for-profit organization or small business with five or less employees, and reside and/or work in the (should just let this be region?) Bonita Springs region. Candidates must also work for a company that is a member of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce.

Funding for this grant is provided in part through the generosity of every company that has sponsored a Young Professionals event this past year, led by the organization’s Annual Partner, Florida Gulf Coast University Alumni Association (FGCUAA). Thank you to FGCUAA, AC Electrical Services, Generation Opportunity, The News-Press Media Group and Rosier Insurance.

To apply for this grant or to be added to the official invite list for the Bonita Springs Area Young Professionals, email or call the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce at (239) 992‐2943. Learn more about the organization on Facebook at
