Light up the Everglades Wonder Gardens

New Initiative Works to Provide Updated Electricity Throughout the Gardens

The Everglades Wonder Gardens is kicking off a new initiative titled “Light the Gardens”. This new campaign will generate much needed funds to provide upgraded electricity throughout the Gardens.

“We are very excited to announce this new campaign, we have several events on property and proper lighting is required for the safety of our guests and wildlife,” states Marjorie Rubacky, Board Member and Everglades Wonder Gardens Fundraising Chair.”  “Many areas require electrical upgrades and the majority of the Gardens still contain the original, outdated electrical wiring.”

The goal of this campaign is to raise $50,000 by February 2019. The amount raised would allow for the Everglades Wonder Gardens to receive all new electric throughout the premises. This is a wonderful opportunity for family and local community involvement. “This would be a great opportunity for the community to come together for this worthy cause,” says Thomas Hecker, President and CEO of the Everglades Wonder Gardens.

Light the Gardens’ launch is currently underway. To make a contribution, or for more information, please visit 27180 Old 41 Road in Bonita Springs, FL 34135-5405, go to or call Thomas Hecker at 239-992-2591.

About Everglades Wonder Gardens

The Everglades Wonder Gardens is a non-profit 501© (3) organization formed in 2014. Originally founded in 1936, by brothers Lester and Bill Piper as The Reptile Gardens, the attraction began to grow rapidly expanding in animal and botanical growth. Through generous financial assistance, the new organization purchased the property in April 2015, saving it from commercial development. Through the preservation of the 83 year old landmark the non-profit currently works to restore wildlife enclosures, nurture the botanical beauty of the property, add educational programs and offer several volunteer opportunities.
