SEPTEMBER 16, 2019 – FORT MYERS, FLA – Poet Dr. Mary Biddinger will present “Finding Time for Creativity” at 4 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, in Building J, Room 103 at the Florida SouthWestern State College (FSW) Thomas Edison Campus, 8099 College Parkway, Fort Myers.
Dr. Biddinger will share insights on how to find time for creativity in our often hectic lives along with advice for getting started as a creative writer. Prior to her talk, Dr. Biddinger will read from her newest collection, “Partial Genius,” published by Black Lawrence Press, at 12:30 p.m. in Building J, Room 117/118, and she will hold a book signing at 3:30 p.m. All events are free and open to the public.
Dr. Biddinger has authored six poetry collections, including “Prairie Fever,” “Saint Monica,” “O Holy Insurgency,” “A Sunny Place with Adequate Water,” “Small Enterprise” and “The Czar,” which was a collaboration with Jay Robinson. In addition, she recently worked with fellow poet John Gallaher to co-edit “The Monkey and the Wrench: Essays into Contemporary Poetics,” a collection that offers a window into the nuances of composing or reading poetry in our contemporary moment. An English professor at the University of Akron, Dr. Biddinger is on the faculty of the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts Creative Writing Program where she teaches literature and creative writing courses with a focus on women writers, contemporary poetry and world literature.
