President’s Message

This week we were able to showcase and engage the community in the possibilities for the Old Town section of 41 in Bonita Springs during a panel discussion at the Community Hall.  With more than 75 attendees, both residents and business people, there was clearly significant interest in the project which will include a major storm water mitigation project and on-street parking as a foundation.  We featured talent from the City and their Community Development Office, Arleen Hunter, Director of Development Services, John Dulmer, Director of Planning and Jenn Hagen, Senior Planner, on a panel discussing Sustainable Development and what that could mean to the community.  A rendering of “Old Florida” style development provided a terrific example of how to manage and merge multiple styles of architecture through the use of unifying accessories such as awnings, paint colors and bahama style shutters.  The program finished with more than a dozen participants signing up to work on specific task forces such as cultural events, walkability, eco districts and live/work space.  Stay tuned for program number three in about two months.

On the personal improvement front, please pay attention to the Chamber’s calendar of events on the home page of our website.  We don’t want you to miss our many small business education programs throughout the summer, specifically designed for the slower season.  This is the best time of year for you to focus on the growth and development of your operations and our speakers are some of the best in their fields.

This is a Five-Star Chamber that can help take you and your company to the next level of performance.  Please join us for an activity soon.
