Our Chamber and EDC wanted to extend a sincere thank you to our member, MY Shower Door and investor D3 Glass for being an enthusiastic and welcoming host to Governor Rick Scott. Last week this family owned business, which has grown from 8 employees in 2003 to 57 employees in 2015, woke up before sunrise to prepare for a press conference highlighting job creation and Governor Scott’s newest tax cut announcement. Over 70 people crowded into the D3 Glass manufacturing facility to welcome the Governor and hear from County Commissioner Brian Hamman. I don’t mean to brag, but D3 Glass Owner, Bill Daubmann and Governor Rick Scott recognized our Chamber and EDC as a catalyst for job growth in the South Lee County region.
If you haven’t heard about the mega growth of MY Shower Door and the story of the creation of D3 Glass, let me tell you. In 2003, MY Shower Door opened its doors for the first time in Southwest Florida. Established by the Daubmann family (Bill, Donna, Keith and Doug), newly relocated from Springfield, Massachusetts, MY Shower Door has since grown to have showrooms in Naples, Fort Myers, Sarasota and Tampa.
In 2012, D3 Glass invested in the only glass tempering machine in Southwest Florida and the Daubmann’s son Douglas, took this division under his management. The addition of this machine added a tremendous functionality causing in short order, their employee count to double in size.
In the last year, D3 Glass has completed large scale projects in Southwest Florida which include the Disney’s Grand Floridian Villas and Contemporary Hotel Executive Suites, the UF biology department, the Tampa International Airport, Trump’s Doral Golf Resort, MacDill Airforce Base, the new Robb & Stucky building in Naples, and The Terraces in Bonita Springs. They will be working on glass for the Hertz Global Headquarters building all summer.
MY Shower Door has won several awards, including Family-Owned Small Business of the Year for Florida by the Small Business Administration in 2010, and the 2013 Florida Companies to Watch from the GrowFL organization and named the “Small Business of the Year” by our Bonita Springs Chamber of Commerce.
Aren’t you proud to have this family owned and operated company blossoming in your backyard?
